CYS/Hudson Valley Philharmonic Concerto Competitions

The College-Youth Symphony, in conjunction with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, held their annual Virtuoso-In-Progress and College-Youth Symphony Concerto Competitions on Saturday, November 3, 2007.  Congratulations to the following winners of both competitions:

Virtuosi-in-Progress Competition:

  • Sarah Bish, cello
  • Drew Youmans, violin

The winners of the VIP Competition will play with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic on Youth Concerts this coming spring.

College/Youth Symphony Competition:

  • Eric Iannucci, trombone

Eric will be the featured soloist on the spring concert of the College-Youth Symphony.

Receiving Honorable Mention are Amanda Baily, violin; Kyle Behnken, bass; Jennifer Edwards, violin; and Danielle Stier, violin.

The Competition Winner's Recital will be held on February 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  All of the winners (including the honorable mention winners) will be presented on the Tuesday Concert Series at McKenna Theatre, SUNY-New Paltz, in a free, public recital.

The judges (Dr. Mary Jane Corry, Dr. William McCann, Kaylyn Kinney and Dr. Carole Cowan) were very impressed with the high level of talent and dedication of all of the contestants and want to congratulate everyone for their hard work.
